Teaching
PhilosophyMy role is to teach future teachers and so my philosophy is to lead by example. My teaching is guided by research and I present students with a range of ways to teach so that they can develop their own art of teaching. I want to inspire teachers to continue to develop their skills and knowledge throughout their entire career: to be truly life-long learners. The world is changing at an incredible pace and in this environment the most sensible thing to do is to teach students how to learn and how to be resilient in the face of change. If teachers can pass on a love of learning to their students then we have succeeded.
Click here to watch the video pictured above and below that describes the award winning teaching innovation that I did with Kimberley Pressick-Kilborn and Don Carter. The video is silent and subtitled as it was made for display on screens in the foyer. We started the initiative in 2016 and in 2019 it is still playing and we continue to work on new ways to engage students using rich tasks.
